Joseph Powathil
Joseph Powathil (born August 14, 1930 in Kalikavu ) is Old Archbishop of Changanacherry .
Life
Joseph Powathil received the on October 3, 1962 ordination and was in the clergy of archeparchy Changanacherry incardinated . Paul VI appointed him on January 7, 1972 auxiliary bishop in Changanacherry and titular bishop of Caesarea Philippi .
The Pope personally consecrated him bishop on February 13 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Bernard Jan Cardinal Alfrink , Archbishop of Utrecht and Military Vicar of the Netherlands , and William John Cardinal Conway , Archbishop of Armagh .
On February 26, 1977, he was appointed bishop of Kanjirapally. John Paul II named him Archbishop of Changanacherry on November 5, 1985. On January 22, 2007, Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
