Bitritto is a south-east Italian municipality ( comune ) in the metropolitan city of Bari in Apulia . The municipality is located about 10 kilometers south-southwest of Bari on the edge of the Murgia .

history

The name of the place comes from the 11th century, from the Latin name locus bitrictum or vetrictum . Two towers still bear witness to the fortification.
