Santeramo in Colle is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 26,246 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Bari in Apulia . The municipality borders the provinces of Taranto and Matera . The place itself is located in a karst landscape about 40 kilometers south of Bari . There are references to the settlement in the Chronicon Vulturnense from the year 882. The painter Francesco Netti (1832-1894) was born and died in Santeramo .
