Grumo Appula is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) in the metropolitan city of Bari in Apulia . The municipality has had the title città (city) since 2005 , and Città Garibaldina since 2011 .

The municipality is located about 18 kilometers southwest of Bari and about 40 kilometers northwest of Matera . It has 12,505 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

The place has a stop on the Bari – Taranto railway , which is operated by the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FS), and a station on the narrow-gauge Bari – Matera (950 mm) railway of the Ferrovie Appulo – Lucane .
