Poggiorsini is a south-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1352 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Bari in Apulia . The municipality is located about 57 kilometers southwest of Bari and about 33.5 kilometers south-southwest of Andria in the Parco nazionale dell'alta Murgia . Poggiorsini borders directly on the provinces of Potenza and Barletta-Andria-Trani .

The area around Poggiorsini is of strategic importance here on a plateau in the Murgia . Presumably there were early settlements or at least fortifications in earlier times. Poggiorsini is first mentioned in a document in 1129.

The Orsini family later received the area as a fief.
