The Diocese of Sagar ( Latin Dioecesis Sagarensis ) is a diocese of the Syro-Malabar Church in India, united with the Roman Catholic Church . It is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Bhopal .

history

On July 29, 1968, the Sagar Apostolic Exarchy was established and Clement Thottungal , a member of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate , became its exarch . When the exarchy was made a diocese in 1977, Thottungal became a bishop. In 1986 he was replaced as bishop by his friar Joseph Pastor Neelankavil .
