The diocese of Zaku and Amadiyah ( Latin Dioecesis Zachuensiset Amadiensis ) is a Chaldean Catholic diocese unified with the Roman Catholic Church and is based in Zaxo , Iraq .

The diocese was founded in 1850 as the Zaku diocese . Due to the persecution of Christians and the reduced number of believers in Iraq, the diocese of Zaku was united with the diocese of Amadiyah to form the diocese of Zaku and Amadiyah on July 11, 2013 . In June 2020, the Chaldean Patriarch Louis Raphaël I Cardinal Sako rescinded the association in agreement with the Synod of the Chaldean Catholic Church and restored the Diocese of Amadiyah as an independent diocese with the previous Bishop Rabban al-Qas . For the diocese of Zaku, the synod elected the previous choir bishop Felix Dawood Al Shabi as the new bishop. Pope Francis confirmed the division of the dioceses and the appointment of bishops on June 27, 2020.
