The Black Birn is a hill in the Pentland Hills . The 370 m high elevation lies on the west flank in the south of the approximately 25 km long range of hills in the Scottish Council Area South Lanarkshire .

The closest town is Tarbrax, about 2.5 kilometers northwest . West Linton is ten kilometers east of the eastern flank of the Pentland Hills. The surrounding hills include Henshaw Hill to the northeast, White Craig and Kredites Rig to the east, and Harrows Law to the southeast.

Surroundings

Artifacts made of worked stone were found on an area of ​​around 2000 m 2 on the western slopes of the Black Birn.

A tributary of the North Medwin flows off the northern flank of the Black Birn and runs along the southwest flank of the range of hills. Another stream, which rises on the slopes of Harrows Law, runs along the southern flank of the Black Birn and also flows into the North Medwin.
