The loanes Rig is a hill in the Pentland Hills . The 448 m high elevation is in the center in the southern part of the approximately 25 km long range of hills in the Scottish Council Area South Lanarkshire .

The nearest town is Tarbrax, about four kilometers to the northwest . West Linton is eight kilometers east of the eastern flank of the Pentland Hills. The surrounding hills include Harrows Law in the west, Black Birn in the northwest, Henshaw Hill in the north, White Craig in the northeast, Catstone Hill in the east and Bleak Law in the south.

Surroundings

There are several cairns on the mine rig and its slopes . They belong to a group of cairns in the area made up of relatively large stones. Since these Cairns are not recorded on older maps, they are dated to the second half of the 19th century and are therefore probably of no historical significance.

Two brooks arise on the northern flank of the Kredit Rig. While the east-flowing Medwin Water first marks the border between West Lothian and South Lanarkshire, then between South Lanarkshire and the Scottish Borders , before expanding into South Medwin , the west-flowing stream is one of the headwaters of the North Medwin , which runs along it the southwest flank of the Pentland Hills runs. The West Water , which rises on the south flank, flows into the South Medwin.
