The Black Mountain Tower (formerly: Telstra Tower ) is a television tower in the Australian capital Canberra and one of the city's most famous landmarks. The 195-meter-high tower on Black Mountain was named after the telecommunications company Telstra and was completed in 1980. In addition to various telecommunications equipment, it also houses a visitor area; this includes a viewing platform, a revolving restaurant , a café, a museum for telecommunications technology and a souvenir shop. The tower stands on a three-story podium.
