The Blagoevgrad Peninsula ( Bulgarian полуостров Благоевград poluostrow Blagoevgrad ) is a 15 km long, 17 km wide and mostly icy peninsula on the Oscar II coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It lies between Vaughan Inlet in the north and Exasperation Inlet in the south. Its southeastern extension is Foyn Point . Yamforina Cove lies on its east bank and its center is partly occupied by the southeastern part of Poibrene Heights . It was created as a result of the break-up of the Larsen Ice Shelf in 2002 and the subsequent retreat of the Evans Glacier and the Punchbowl Glacier .
It was mapped in 2012. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in the same year after the town of Blagoevgrad in southwestern Bulgaria .
