Blaguss , a family business in the third generation, is an Austrian passenger transport and travel agency company.

The main areas of activity of the group of companies are bus charter, shuttle services, travel agencies, individual and group travel as well as national and international scheduled services. Blaguss has occasionally also provided shuttle services at major events, such as the 60th Eurovision Song Contest 2015, where all national delegations drove with Blaguss buses.

The bus fleet of the Blaguss Group with an average age of 2.1 years includes around 550 coaches (as of 2017) of the Euro 6 emission standards . The Blaguss Group employs over 1000 people at its locations in Austria , Hungary , Slovakia , the Czech Republic and Germany .

The group of companies is led by the two cousins ​​Thomas and Paul Blaguss.

history

The company was founded in 1926 by Paul Blaguss (* 1907 in Unterpullendorf ; † 1972) as a trading company for the "trade in eggs, butter, poultry, game, fruit and mushrooms" . Soon after, he bought a Perl type truck so that he could sell his products on the Naschmarkt in Vienna . The transport company Blaguss was born. In 1932 the company also had three buses and in 1935 it was granted a line and travel agency license.

During the Second World War , all vehicles were confiscated and the company had to start all over again. Shortly after the end of the war, in 1947, Blaguss owned three buses again and applied for line concessions. The route network has been continuously expanded since then.

The first tourist trips to Hungary were made as early as 1953 and from 1956 Reisen u. a. offered to Greece. In 1965 the company was granted the unrestricted travel agency license in Oberpullendorf. The sons joined the company as partners in 1970 and took over management. Blaguss expanded both its program in Burgenland and at the new company location in Vienna.

In 1979, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the company was awarded the national coat of arms . At that time, the company employed around 150 people and had 40 buses.

In 1984 the first city lines of Wiener Linien were taken over. A new bus center was opened in Vienna in 1987. In addition to the new travel agency branch in Budapest, regular services between Vienna and Budapest have also been launched.

Soon after the opening of the Eastern European countries, international regular services were also added to Romania, Bulgaria and Poland. In the neighboring countries of the former Czechoslovakia and Hungary, numerous activities were already carried out during the time of the Iron Curtain . From 1991 until the beginning of 2016 Blaguss was a member of the Eurolines network .

Blaguss has been cooperating with the German long-distance bus company Flixbus Mobility GmbH since 2014 . As part of this strategic cooperation, targets in a total of six countries in Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) have been served by the joint subsidiary Flixbus CEE since the beginning of 2016.

In December 2015, Bank Austria's shares in the Vienna Donauturm were sold to the Blaguss Group - together with three other investors.

In 2016, a majority stake in the Salzburg bus and travel agency company Vorderegger was taken over, and the Salzburg location is being expanded further.
