Blanca Estela Pavón

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

María Blanca Estela Pavón Vasconcelos (born February 21, 1926 in Minatitlán , Veracruz ; † September 26, 1949 in the area of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl near Amecameca, southeast of Mexico City ), also known by the nickname La Chorreada , was a Mexican actress in the golden era of Mexican film .

Childhood and youth

Pavón began working as a performing artist for a radio station in Orizaba at the age of nine . The linguistic qualities she gained during this job later enabled her to work as a Spanish dubbing actress for US film production companies . She gave Vivien Leigh her voice in the Spanish dubbed version of Gone With the Wind and Ingrid Bergman in The House of Lady Alquist .

To promote her talent, her parents decided to move to Mexico City , where she intensified her acting training and took music lessons.

In 1937 she first appeared on the screen as an extra in the film Huérfanos del divorcio . In 1941 she got her first supporting role in the musical La liga de las canciones .

actress

In the film Cuando lloran los valientes , Pavón first appeared on the side of the popular Mexican actor Pedro Infante , with whom she often appeared in front of the camera over the next few years. For example in the romantic comedy ¡Vuelven los García! and in the drama Nosotros, los pobres , in which Pavón played the role of Celia “La Chorreada”, from which she owes her upcoming nickname. Their next film together was Los tres huastecos , in which Pavón played the leading female role alongside Pedro Infante for the first time. Then they shot together Ustedes, los ricos , in which Pavón slipped into the role of Celia "La Chorreada" again. Their last film project together was La mujer que yo perdí . Pavón then shot her last film with Ladronzuela .

The tragic end

Burial place of Blanca Estela Pavón

In September 1949, the acclaimed actress made several tours of Mexico for presentation purposes. On the way back from an introductory tour in the Mexican state of Chiapas , the plane she was using crashed on a volcano not far from the city of Puebla . Her death at the age of only 23 seems all the more tragic due to the fact that Pavón initially did not have a ticket for this flight and only bought it shortly before departure from her colleague Yolanda Montes "Tongolele", who was less in a hurry.

Her remains were buried in the Panteón Jardín of Mexico City.
