Blankartshof in Ahrweiler

The Blankartshof (also Herresdorfer Hof ) in Ahrweiler , a district of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler in the Ahrweiler district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), is a former noble court of the Blankart von Ahrweiler family. The building in the street "Blankartshof 1" was built in 1680. In addition to the Deutsches Hof, the Blankartshof is the only one of the seven Ahrweiler noble courts that have survived. Today the city archive and tourist information are housed there. The Blankartshof is a protected architectural monument .

history

As a fief of the Reichsabtei Prüm , the Blankartshof was initially owned by the von Fischenich family, which can be traced back to 1256. The farm, which passed to the Blankart family in the 14th century, was therefore also known as the Fischenicher Hof. It was the most important noble court in Ahrweiler and the members of the Blankart family, whose name is first mentioned in 1176, held important offices. They had a seat on the knight council of the city of Ahrweiler, they were bailiffs of Kurköln and councilors of the archbishops of Cologne and Trier . In Ahrweiler, the family also owned the Gymnicher Hof in Adenbachhutstrasse as a Prümer fief. With Johann Otto Friedrich Blankart von Ahrweiler, the last male descendant of the Ahrweiler branch died in 1712.

In 1787 the Blankartshof was rebuilt. In the 19th century it served temporarily as the seat of the district administration , after which the building went into private ownership. In the years 1995 to 2005 it was repaired again.

Alliance coat of arms above the right entrance door

architecture

The current building is a two-story, five- axis baroque building that is covered by a hipped roof. An alliance coat of arms has been preserved above the right entrance door on the north side . On the left side you can see the coat of arms of the Blankart family, on which a hammer is depicted. The right coat of arms is badly weathered. Presumably it was the coat of arms of Amalia Regina Freiin von Waldenburg, b. Schenkeren zu Untersbach, who died in 1694.
