Blue and white booklets

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Blau-Weiss Hefte was a series of booklets that was published by Münsterverlag towards the end of the Second World War . In the format of the popular booklet novels , this edition belongs to the so-called good youth literature .

Edition history

These booklets were published by various organizations, especially in Austria and Switzerland , in order to form a counterpart to the normal “ junk booklets ”. Individual publishers also tried this form of good youth literature at kiosks without direct support from literary organizations , such as the Basler Münsterverlag here. The blue and white booklets ran from 1944 to 1945. They consisted of 31 or 34 issues. In addition to less clearly more demanding literature, classics of fantastic and adventure literature were also printed here. In addition to Adelbert von Chamisso, there were also stories by Friedrich Gerstäcker and Edgar Allan Poe . Authors like ETA Hoffmann , whose works were assigned to the entertainment novel and had no educational claim, were also represented with their works.

The small-format booklets were 48–66 pages thick, had a cover picture in black and white (with a blue background) and cost 45 centimes .

Intention of this series

Even if one did not dedicate oneself directly to the 'fight against rubbish', left to other organizations, the publishing house pursued the claim after the disturbing events of the day to restore the happy harmony of the mind . The advertising was accordingly less sensational: after a long journey and after exciting negotiations, they want to bring the traveler a break from the world of professional thoughts. On their return home from the one-sided work in the office or at work, they will allow the young man or the working daughter to find a liberating emotional balance in a breathtaking, exciting or happy way, depending on the mood.
