The Blue Band tourist route is a tourist initiative of the state of Saxony-Anhalt .

The tourist route launched in 1995 is intended to further develop and promote water tourism along the Elbe and its tributaries in Saxony-Anhalt. A special feature of the rivers are the near-natural conditions of the landscapes. The reason for this was the inner-German border during the Cold War , which meant that the Elbe lost its connection to the North and Baltic Seas . It was therefore not expanded, which hindered water sports, the economy and water tourism. This naturalness is almost unique in Europe today, which is why the river landscapes have been building on this potential since the fall of the Wall .
