Richard Daniel (General)

Richard Daniel (born December 24, 1900 in Anspach (Neu-Anspach) , † May 4, 1986 in Neumünster ) was a German officer , most recently major general in World War II .

From 1916 to 1918 Daniel did military service as a volunteer. On October 1, 1919, he entered the police force. On October 15, 1935 he was transferred to the Wehrmacht. From December 1, 1943 to July 1944, he was in command of teaching staff II at the Döberitz infantry school. On July 15, 1944, he took over the leadership of the 45th People's Grenadier Division. In this position he was seriously wounded on March 19, 1945 by an anti-tank splinter. In May 1945 he was taken prisoner of war from which he was released in June due to his injury.
