The Blue-black ball neck Bock or Colorful ball neck Bock ( Dinoptera collaris , Syn. : Acmaeops collaris ) is a beetle from the family of longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae).

description

The beetles grow to be seven to nine millimeters long. The blue-black elytra are densely dotted and hairy protruding. The abdomen is orange-red. The pronotum is convex and usually red, sometimes dark. The antennae are pivoted between the eyes, i.e. H. the front edges of the eyes and the turning points are on one line.

Similar species

The species that look similar to the blue-black spherical collar are all rare and their pronotum is strongly constricted behind the front edge and the antennae are deflected in front of the eyes.

Occurrence

They occur in deciduous forests all over Europe , Asia Minor , Siberia , Armenia , Syria , the Caucasus and Iran .

Way of life

The larvae develop under the bark of dry branches of oak , aspens or apple trees lying on the ground . Pupation takes place in the upper litter layer. The beetles can be found on blooming hawthorn , elderberry or umbelliferae from April to August , where they feed on pollen.
