The Blausee in Obersulzbachtal in the municipality of Neukirchen am Großvenediger is a small lake in the Salzburg region of Oberpinzgau . The area is used as a recreational area, but is protected as a biotope .
Geography and history
The Blausee is located at the valley exit of the Obersulzbachtal near Sulzau and Siggen at an altitude of 925 m above sea level. A. It is a so-called spring or pressurized water lake , so it was created by rising groundwater .
In addition, around 1910 after the erection of an approximately twelve-meter-high bed load barrier on the lower reaches of the Obersulzbach itself, another lake formed as an extension of the watercourse.

With the redesign of the Blausee / Obersulzbach area, the area was set up as a local recreation area. There are recreational areas by the lake, seating with tables, fire pits and toilets for visitors .
The Blausee is marketed to tourists under the name Naturerlebnis Blausee and with a hiking trail set up under the name Natura Trail Blausee .
