Doug Burgum
Douglas J. "Doug" Burgum (born August 1, 1956 in Arthur , North Dakota ) is an American businessman and politician of the Republican Party . He has been governor of the US state of North Dakota since December 15, 2016 .
Life
Burgum studied economics at North Dakota State University and Stanford University . In 1983 he became an employee of the software company Great Plains Software , whose president he became in 1984 and sold to the US group Microsoft in 2001 . At Microsoft he became the head of Microsoft Business Solutions . Burgum founded real estate company Kilbourne Group and is co-founder of investment firm Arthur Ventures . On November 8, 2016, he succeeded Republican governor Jack Dalrymple in the gubernatorial elections in North Dakota.
