Joachim Hoffmann (trade unionist)

Joachim Hoffmann (born September 15, 1922 in Halle (Saale) ; died February 28, 2002 in Berlin ) was an FDGB functionary.

Life

Joachim Hoffmann attended elementary school and high school in his hometown. During the Second World War he was a soldier in the Wehrmacht from 1940 to 1945 . He took part in the attack on the Soviet Union as a corporal . In 1945 he was taken prisoner by the Soviets. He was interned there until 1949 and attended the anti-fasc school in 2041 .

He returned to Berlin in 1949 and from 1950 was an employee of the Federal Executive of the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB). Hoffmann became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) and was temporarily editor-in-chief of the newspaper Die Arbeit. Union magazine for theory and practice and personal assistant to FDGB chairman Herbert Warnke . In March 1963 he received his doctorate as Dr. oec. at the University of Leipzig . In 1971 he was expelled from the federal executive committee of the FDGB.

From 1971 to 1986 he was a research assistant at the "Institute for Politics and Economics", a. a. also for Herbert Häber, who later became a member of the Politburo .

Hoffmann was committed to the preservation of the socialist memorial at the Friedrichsfelde central cemetery . He was a founding member of the “Support Group Memorial Site of the German Workers' Movement Berlin-Friedrichsfelde e. V. “in October 2002.

Joachim Hoffmann was buried in the Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery. One of the funeral orators was the district mayor of Lichtenberg Wolfram Friedersdorff ( Die Linke ).
