Johanna Töpfer , b. Schrocko (born April 3, 1929 in Schneidemühl , Grenzmark Posen-West Prussia , † January 7, 1990 in Berlin ), was a GDR politician, deputy chairwoman of the FDGB and economist.

Life

She came from a working class family and attended elementary and commercial school. From 1945 to 1950 she worked for the Deutsche Reichsbahn as a car cleaner, secretary, and most recently in the management department of the Reichsbahnamt Leipzig . 1951 to 1952 he attended the teachers' seminar in Dresden , with distance learning at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1955 she received her degree in business administration. She has been a teacher since 1952, followed by an apprenticeship at the Institute for Social Sciences at the Central Committee of the SED from 1959 to 1964 and a doctorate to become a Dr. rer. oec.

Memberships

Töpfer had been a member of the FDGB since 1945 , the SED since 1949 and from 1955 deputy director of the FDGB central schools in Beesenstedt and Grünheide (Mark) . From 1956 to 1959 she took on an activity, most recently as a sector manager, on the FDGB federal board. After completing her college education from 1964 to 1965, she was again a member of the FDGB federal executive board and then from 1965 to 1970 lecturer and deputy director of the trade union college "Fritz Heckert" in Bernau near Berlin . In 1968 she received a professorship there and from 1968 to 1989 she was a member of the presidium of the FDGB federal executive committee, secretary and since January 1971, alongside Wolfgang Beyreuther, deputy chairman of the FDGB federal executive committee. From 1971 to 1989 she was a member of the Central Committee of the SED and from 1973 to 1977 Vice President of the GDR Peace Council . As a member of the FDGB parliamentary group, she was a member of the People's Chamber from 1976 to 1990, and from 1976 to 1981 a member of the People's Chamber Presidium. From 1981 to 1989 she was also a member of the State Council of the GDR . On January 7, 1990, Potter committed suicide ; she resigned himself to the attacks on her person during the time of the fall .
