Lead metagermanate is an inorganic chemical compound of lead from the group of germanates . In addition to this, there is at least one other lead germanate, Pb 5 Ge 3 O 11 .

Extraction and presentation

Lead metagermanate can be obtained by simultaneous hydrolysis of lead and germanium alkoxides. It can also be produced by the reaction of germanium dioxide with lead (II) acetate .

properties

Lead metagermanate is a solid that has a large pyroelectric effect. It occurs in two different crystal structures with a trigonal and orthorhombic structure, the transition taking place at temperatures above 600 ° C. A cubic phase also occurs at high pressures.
