A blind arcade , also known as a wall arcade , is an ornament on buildings. They loosen up the smooth surface of a wall by suggesting an arcade . In contrast to this, the blind arcade does not have any openings, the arches are only hinted at. A single such decorative arch is called a blind arch .

Blind arcades are part of primarily Romanesque and Gothic architecture. However, models can already be found among the Romans . The arched frieze is a special form of the blind arcade .
