Blood ( Engl. : 'Blood') is a grindcore band from Speyer ( Germany ). Blood are after Napalm Death together with Extreme Noise Terror and Agathocles the oldest still active Grindcore band.

history

The band was founded in 1986 in Speyer am Rhein by Eisen, Geier, Taki and Radtke. After the release of six demos, the band received a recording contract with the American label Wild Rags Records . This made them Germany's first band to be produced by a US record label. The debut album Impulse to Destroy was released in spring 1989 and contains raw grindcore.

For the two following albums they switched to 1MF Records . The second album Christbait was released in 1992 with Alex (vocals) and Ruben (2nd guitar). Sound-wise it is very much assigned to Death Metal, even if the songs still have Grindcore elements. Then Alex and Ruben left the band and Martin was brought back to record the third album O Agios Pethane , which was released in 1993. The sound is now much more raw and brutal. After Martin was replaced on vocals by Clausi, the fourth album Mental Conflicts was released on Morbid Records in 1994 . The sound was quite “reverberant” and the snare drum could hardly be heard. In 1996 they released the fifth album Depraved Goddess on their own. From now on you had found your sound and with the "Soundbunker" Ludwigshafen the perfect studio on your doorstep.

In 1999 Gas Flames Bones was released on Ars Metalli. This album deals with the horrors of war. In 2003 they went back to Morbid Records to produce the last album to date, Dysangelium . In April 2006, the band celebrated their twentieth anniversary in a small group in their hometown of Speyer.

In May 2014 there was a reorganization and a major upheaval. Just in time for the band's 28th anniversary, Blood consists of the original Blood line-up from 1988. In 2017, the first new studio album in 14 years called Inferno was released, which was recorded in cooperation with music producer Kristian Kohlmannslehner in the Darmstadt coal cellar studio.

Blood play their own, but very efficient style of Grindcore and Death Metal , which they have expanded and further developed for themselves.
