Bloomfield is a city in San Juan County in the US state of New Mexico in the United States with 8112 inhabitants (2010 census).

The city is located in the northeast of the county , in the extreme northwest of New Mexico, is in the north about 10 km from Colorado , in the west about 30 km from Arizona and has a total area of 13.1 km², of which 0.1 km² is water.
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 6,417 people in 2,222 households and 1,708 families lived here. The population density was 495 inhabitants per km². The racial the population was composed of 62.38% White, 0.33% African American, 16.71% Native American, 0.34% Asian and other groups.
Of the 2,222 households, 42.6% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 55.9% were married couples living together, 15.5% were a single mother, 23.1% were non-families, 19.7% were made up of single households and 7.4% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.85 and the average family size was 3.26 people.
In relation to the entire town, the population consisted of 32.4% residents under 18 years of age, 9.7% between 18 and 24 years of age, 27.0% between 25 and 44 years of age, 20.9% between 45 and 64 years of age 10.0% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 91.4 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over, there were statistically 89.5 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 32,905 , and the median income for a family is $ 34,760. Males had a median income of $ 29,144 versus $ 19,203 for females. The per capita income was $ 14,424. 15.2% of families and 14.7% of the population are below the poverty line.
