Bloxwich [ ˈblsɔkswɪtʃ ] is a market town with about 25,500 inhabitants in the West Midlands in England . Bloxwich is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall .
history
Bloxwich is probably due to an Anglo-Saxon settlement, because the name can be inferred from a Bloc family in Mercia . In the Domesday Book of 1086 the place is mentioned as Blockeswich .
In the 18th and 19th centuries there were numerous mines for hard coal extraction as well as several iron and steel works. It later became a dormitory for the larger cities in the area.
Attractions
The city center with numerous buildings from the Victorian and Edwardian times is well worth seeing. The Grade II listed All Saints' Church was built from 1791 to 1794.
