The Blue Star Naxos is a ferry and belongs to the fleet of the Greek shipping company Blue Star Ferries . The ship was delivered on June 7, 2002 to what was then Strintzis Lines , which was renamed Blue Star Ferries only a little later. The sister ship of the Blue Star Naxos is the Blue Star Paros .

technology

The Blue Star Naxos was launched at a shipyard of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Heavy Machinery Ltd and is powered by four Wärtsilä NSD 9L32 diesel engines. They deliver 4140  kW at 750 rpm, for a total of 16,560 kW. The ship thus reaches a speed of almost 24 knots .

The ship is loaded and unloaded via three stern ramps , two of which are only for pedestrians.

The construction is derived from the Blue Star Ithaki , which was built two years earlier , but with a modified deck structure.

particularities

The ship is the only Greek ship of which 1: 1250 scale models are made and sold.

Others

In the main season, the ship operates a route that is mainly used by tourists. In the off-season it is often withdrawn from its regular route and takes over routes from other ships.
