The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion 2009

The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion , from 2004 also temporarily shortened to Blues Explosion , is an American rock band founded in New York City in 1991 . The band consists of Jon Spencer (vocals, guitar, theremin ), previously a founding member of the noise band Pussy Galore , Judah Bauer (guitar) and Russell Simins (drums). Their music combines elements from rock 'n' roll , blues , soul , rockabilly , noise , punk rock and hip-hop with the occasional use of a theremin solo. The band largely dispenses with the use of bass instruments such as electric bass or double bass in their music .

Between 1993 and 2004 the group was under contract with Matador Records . Three of the albums released on this label hit the Billboard charts , namely Now I Got Worry (1996, number 121), Acme (1998, number 180) and Plastic Fang (2002, number 196).
