Flowers (Austrian stamp series)
Flowers is a definitive stamp series from Austria with eleven values, which was published from 2007 to 2008 and is still valid for postage. Each brand shows a well-known flower that is also native to Austria.
Design and execution
The stamps in portrait format were designed by Rudolf Galler , for reasons of cost they were not produced by the Austrian State Printing Office , but by Joh. Enschedé Stamps BV from Haarlem ( Netherlands ) and printed in sheets of 100 each. There is a serrated perforation to separate the brands .
particularities
The previous definitive series of the Austrian Post was Ferienland Österreich . Since 2011, the series flowers have been replaced by the definitive stamps of the series Kunsthäuser . Parallel to these stamps there were also definitive stamps with motifs of protected animals.
In Germany, too, there has been a definitive series with floral motifs since 2005 .
This issue caused a sensation among the philatelists , as the series was no longer produced in intaglio or halftone gravure in the Austrian State Printing House, which is known for its top quality , but in cheap offset printing at Joh. Enschedé Stamps BV .
