Art houses (stamp series)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kunsthäuser is a definitive stamp series from Austria with initially twelve values, which was published on May 1, 2011 and is still valid for postage. Each brand shows a house for contemporary art, which has achieved international renown through its architecture and programmatic orientation, with ten Austrian and two international buildings being shown. On June 20, a thirteenth value was issued as a supplement.

Design and execution

The stamps in portrait format were designed by Rainer Prohaska and produced in sets of 4 and 10 ( stamp booklets ) as well as 25, 50 and 100 rolls as self-adhesive stamps. A total of around 80,000,000 copies is planned.

particularities

The previous definitive stamp series of the Austrian Post was the edition flowers . In this issue, self-adhesive stamps were used for the first time with Austrian definitive stamps. The graphic artist succeeded here in a greatly reduced, graphic implementation, whereby he presented the buildings in fine lines.

For the first time, a color design for the background was chosen for this edition, which is intended to give the user easier assignment to the individual tariff groups. For the first time, several issues with the same values were issued at the same time. Philatelists complain that the stamps can no longer be bought individually, but are only available as expensive sets of 4 and 10 stamps (stamp booklets) and 25, 50 and 100 rolls. The cheap production of the brand, which is in contrast to the very high-quality brands of the previous editions, is also criticized.

The first edition in 2011 appeared without the impression of the respective architect. With the later impression of the architect, with the exception of the values of 0.05, 0.07, 0.62 € (booklet Bregenz and Krems) and 1.45 € Vienna, the Post reissued the stamps. It also achieved an increase in sales among subscription customers.

The value of 1.45 € (Vienna) was made later with a new picture (Hittisau) and only with the architect's impression.

Perforation:

  • The value at € 0.05 (sheet) appeared with a K 14.
  • All other values punched with a tooth similarity of 13 1/4.

Exception:

  • From the value of € 0.07 and € 0.62, Kunsthaus Graz published 2 types of perforation each, A - punched like a tooth at 13 1/4 and B - punched in a wave shape at 13 3/4: 14.
  • The value of € 0.62 Kunsthaus Graz in exceptional perforation B is very rare; The type B differs from the type A by a recognizable different size (bigger!).
