International Consumer Research & Testing

International Consumer Research & Testing (ICRT) is an internationally active umbrella organization founded in 1990 for the administration of jointly carried out comparative product tests , market and product research. Its headquarters are in London and there is an external office in Brussels.

aims

One of the goals of the organization is to reduce the total costs and the total effort for product tests through international cooperation and to standardize the test methods. Community tests must be carried out according to the rules established by ICRT. ICRT also provides standardized procedures, tools and resources.

Members

All members are consumer organizations that do not advertise products in their publications and are independent of trade, industry and politics. There are over 40 consumer organizations worldwide that are members of ICRT.

The most important member organizations represented on the Council of ICRT include the Stiftung Warentest ( Germany ), Consumers Union ( USA ), Verbruikersunie ( Belgium ), Que choisir ( France ), Which? ( United Kingdom ) and Consumentenbond ( Netherlands ).

Other members include the Fédération romande des consommateurs and the Foundation for Consumer Protection in Switzerland , as well as the Association for Consumer Information in Austria .

From the German side, the executive board of Stiftung Warentest, Werner Brinkmann , was a member of the board until the end of 2011 . His successor in 2012 was the new board of the Stiftung Warentest, Hubertus Primus .

organization

The organization has been headed by Niels Jacobsen since 2019 and carries out around 50 joint investigations on around 3500 products per year. Consumer products include digital cameras , cell phones , televisions , automobiles , washing machines , dishwashers , vacuum cleaners, and lighting . The tests are carried out in independent test laboratories.

Others

ICRT cooperates with the European Consumer Association in Brussels (BEUC) and Consumers International in London (CI).
