Werner Brinkmann

Werner Brinkmann (born December 10, 1946 in Hamm ) is a German lawyer. Until the end of 2011 he was the sole director of Stiftung Warentest in Berlin-Tiergarten .

education

Werner Brinkmann grew up in Hamm, where he was born, and passed his Abitur in 1966 at the humanistic grammar school in Hammonense . From 1966 to 1970 he studied at the Universities of Freiburg and Münster law . He passed the first state examination in 1970 and the second state examination in 1975. In 1975 he also received his doctorate from the University of Münster with a dissertation on consumer organizations in the Federal Republic and their work in technical standardization to obtain a doctorate in law.

career path

From 1975 to 1979 he was head of the administration and law department at Stiftung Warentest in Berlin. He then worked for Deutschlandfunk until 1992 , most recently as head of the main department for human resources, law and fees / licenses .

In 1981 he was appointed to the board of trustees of Stiftung Warentest, and from 1992 to the end of 1994 he was a member of the board of the Stiftung Warentest. When the CEO Roland Hüttenrauch retired, Werner Brinkmann became the sole director of Stiftung Warentest in 1995. His appointment as sole director was last extended in 2006 for a further five years. In December 2009, as a result of his initiative, he received a commitment from Federal Consumer Protection Minister Ilse Aigner to increase the endowment capital of Stiftung Warentest by 50 million euros by 2012.

Brinkmann retired at the end of 2011; his successor has been the previous editor-in-chief of test Hubertus Primus magazine since January 2, 2012 .

Werner Brinkmann is a member of the board of the International Consumer Research & Testing organization , a member of the administrative board of the Federation of German Consumer Organizations (vzbv) and a member of the steering committee of the German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies (DKE).

Werner Brinkmann has been a member of the Presidium of the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) since 1995 . In 2000 he was awarded the BAUM Environment Prize of the Federal German Working Group for Environmentally Conscious Management .

In 2011 Werner Brinkmann received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his success in the service of consumers .

He is not politically active and lives with his wife and son in Berlin-Zehlendorf .
