Roland Hüttenrauch

Roland Johannes Hüttenrauch (born January 26, 1928 in Oberlungwitz ; † January 12, 2006 on a plane from Luxor to Istanbul ) was managing director from April 1967 and from 1972 to 1994 board member of Stiftung Warentest in Berlin .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1946, Roland Hüttenrauch studied at the University of Leipzig and at the Technical University of Berlin , where he graduated in 1955 with a diploma in physics. There he received his doctorate in 1961 in the field of electron optics to engineer doctor . He then taught engineering training until 1964 and worked as a freelancer in the working group of consumer associations.

Services

Shortly after the establishment of the Stiftung Warentest in 1964, he was appointed head of the technology department , played a key role in establishing the Stiftung Warentest and made it a successful and internationally respected institution. In 1967 he succeeded Olaf Triebenstein as managing director of Stiftung Warentest and in 1972 board member. During this activity he developed the methodology of comparative product testing. In 1994 Hüttenrauch retired , but remained with Stiftung Warentest as a member of the Board of Directors until 1999 , while Werner Brinkmann succeeded him.

Hüttenrauch had been awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class , since 1988 . In Germany he is considered the father of comparative product tests .

Hüttenrauch died during a flight from Luxor to Leipzig before a stopover in Istanbul .
