Bobby Pring

Robert Edward "Bob" Pring junior , also Bobby Pring Junior ( 1924 - July 8, 2009 ) was an American big band and jazz trombonist .

From the mid-1940s Pring played in the Glenn Miller Orchestra under the direction of Tex Beneke , later in Beneke's own orchestra, and also with Benny Goodman , Les Brown ( Concert at the Palladium 1963), Bob Florence , Terry Gibbs , Dave Pell , Pete Rugolo ( 10 Trombones Like 2 Pianos , 1960) and Si Zentner . In 1956 he was a member of the house band at Hollywood's Moulin Rouge Club . During this time he mainly worked as a studio musician in the Los Angeles area. In 1977 he moved to New York, where he played with Max Kaminsky in Jimmy Ryan’s and with Roy Eldridge . In later years he worked a. a. with Buck Clayton , Marty Grosz , Dick Meldonian , Ken Peplowski , Loren Schoenberg ( Out of the World , 1997) and Bobby Short ; In 1987 he played in the American Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Gary Giddins . Pring, who participated in nearly 200 recording sessions from 1946 to 2005, died in 2009 at the age of 84 after complications from heart surgery.
