Dave Pell

David "Dave" Pell (born February 26, 1925 in Brooklyn , New York City - † May 8, 2017 ) was an American jazz musician , saxophonist , band leader , arranger , composer and producer.

Live and act

Dave Pell played with Bob Astor , Tony Pastor and Bobby Sherwood from the early 1940s . Then he moved to California and worked there with Bob Crosby and his own octet, with which he released numerous records in the 1950s. Pell was also a member of the Les Brown orchestra from 1948 to 1955 and was the record manager for the Tops record company . In the 1960s he temporarily withdrew from the jazz scene and worked as a producer for the record label Liberty Records and United Artists . In memory of Lester Young's music, he then initiated the Prez Conference project , with Harry Sweets Edison and Joe Williams , among others . On his label Group 7 Music not only his own records were re-released, but also those of other musicians.
