The Bocksbühl is a 437 m high mountain in the upper Leinebergland in southern Lower Saxony , Germany .

Geographical location

The mountain is located in southern Lower Saxony, near the border triangle with Thuringia and Hesse, between the villages of Ludolfshausen in the east and Groß Schneen in the west. The district town of Göttingen is about twelve kilometers to the north.

Natural classification

According to the natural spatial structure in the Kassel sheet, the mountain is part of the Reinhäuser Forest (No. 373.2) within the Göttingen-Northeimer Forest (No. 373) and is part of the Weser-Leine Bergland (No. 37).

nature

The completely forested mountain consists of the peaks of the large (437 m) and small (approx. 420 m) Bocksbühl, which are located directly next to each other. They consist of shell limestone and tower about 100 m above the red sandstone plateau of the Reinhausen Forest, which is adjacent to the northeast. The mountain area also includes the Fritzeberg (427.0 m) located about 500 m to the south and the Plesse (388.3 m) to the west . From the summit you have a view of the Upper Leinebergland, the western Eichsfeld and on a clear day up to the Brocken in the Harz Mountains . Numerous hiking trails lead up the mountain.
