The Bodenstein nature reserve is located in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia . It extends north of Wintzingerode , a district of the city of Leinefelde-Worbis . The B 247 runs to the west of the area, and the L 1012 and L 2055 state roads run to the east .

The 133.5 hectare area with NSG no. 006 was placed under nature protection in 1961.
