Bodo Bischoff

Bodo Alexander Bischoff (born April 24, 1952 in Bielefeld ) is a German musicologist and choir director .

Education and career

Bischoff completed the old-language branch at the Schadow-Gymnasium in Berlin-Zehlendorf (Abitur 1971). This was followed by a degree in educational science and school music for teaching at grammar schools , as well as music theory (with Heinrich Metzler and Heinrich Poos ) and musicology (with Elmar Budde and Helmut Kühn ) at the Berlin University of the Arts . He also studied biology and musicology with Klaus Kropfinger and Rudolf Stephan at the Free University of Berlin . In 1979 he passed his second state examination in school music and biology.

Since 1981, Bischoff worked as a student assistant at the musicological seminar of the Free University of Berlin. In 1992 he received his doctorate in musicology; in his dissertation he dealt with the development of Robert Schumann 's reception of Beethoven .

Since 1989, Bischoff has also been involved in the training of choir directors, both in Berlin and at the Nordkolleg Rendsburg , at the Federal Academy for Cultural Education in Wolfenbüttel and at the music training centers at Schloss Zeillern and Schloss Zell in Austria.

Since 1992 he has been teaching musicology at the University of Kassel . From winter semester 1997/98 to summer semester 1999 he was a substitute professor for musicology at the University of Kassel and was in charge of the school music department. He was appointed to the State Scientific Examination Office of the University of Kassel and became a member of the commission for the creation of a new concept for the amendment of the study courses in school music, applied musicology and music education at the University of Kassel.
