Bodo Scheurig

Bodo Scheurig (* 1928 in Berlin ; † April 29, 2008 in Berlin) was a German historian and author.

After being captured by the Soviets, Bodo Scheurig studied modern history and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin and at Columbia University , New York . In Berlin he studied with Hans Herzfeld , among others , as his pupil he is known. He published numerous books and essays, especially about the conservative resistance against Hitler and in 1964 the first biography about Count Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg . His book about the National Committee Free Germany , which first appeared in 1965 and was last published in 1993 under the title Traitors or Patriots: The National Committee “Free Germany” and the Association of German Officers in the Soviet Union from 1943 to 1945, also became famous.

The Berlin State Library acquired his estate . A "Bodo Scheurig Collection" with documents on the conservative resistance against National Socialism is also located in the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich, some of which is accessible in digital form.
