Bodo Sommer (born October 17, 1952 ) was a football player in the GDR Oberliga , the highest football class in the GDR . He played there for 1. FC Magdeburg , with whom he became champions in 1972, 1974 and 1975.

Coming from the offspring of BSG activist Gommern in 1968 , Sommer played his first competitive game for the first team of 1. FC Magdeburg at the age of 18 on December 13, 1970 in the cup match 1. FCM - FC Carl Zeiss Jena II (4: 0). He made his debut in the league a year later on December 4, 1971 in the 2-0 victory of Magdeburg at 1. FC Union Berlin. This season, the 1.76 m tall summer was only used in two league point games, but was part of the 1971/72 championship team. In the following season, his rate of use in the league was low with only four point games, he also missed his team's cup win on May 1, 1973, because he was not used in the final against 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig . With five point games, summer came in the 1973/74 season with the renewed championship to his second title. Sommer was not involved at all in the FCM's triumphant march through the 1973/74 European Cup Winners' Cup competition , which ended with winning the cup. But he had his best season 1974/75 with 14 league appearances, which he was able to crown with the third championship win. His last season in Magdeburg played in the summer of 1976/77, in which he again completed nine first division games. His last competitive game was on May 21, 1977 again the league point game 1. FC Union Berlin - 1. FC Magdeburg, which this time ended 1: 1.

Between 1970 and 1977 Bodo Sommer was used in 53 competitive first team games, there were 45 point games, six national and two international cup games. Called up as a defender, he only managed one goal in the league games.

At the beginning of the 1977/78 football season, Sommer moved to BSG Motor Babelsberg at the age of 25 , for which he played for a year in the second-rate GDR league . He then moved to BSG Nord Torgelow for two years , with whom he became district champion Neubrandenburg in 1979 and rose to the GDR league. In 1980 he returned to Babelsberg, where he became district champion Potsdam in 1981 and again rose to the GDR league. In 1983 he became team captain and in 1986 he finally ended his football career in Babelsberg.
