Bogomir Bogomirowitsch Korsow , Russian Богомир Богомирович Корсов ; also Готфрид Готфридович Корсов , Gottfried Gottfriedowitsch Korsow , actually Готфрид Геринг , Gottfried Göring ; (* 1845 in Saint Petersburg , † 1920 in Tbilisi ) was a Russian opera singer ( baritone ).

Life

Korsow was the son of a doctor of German descent and studied with Luigi Piccioli at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory and then in Milan with Giovanni Corsi (hence his stage name). After his studies he made his debut as an opera singer at the theater in Turin .

In 1869 he was accepted at the Mariinsky Theater in Saint Petersburg. At the same time he sang regularly at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow . In 1891 the singer sang Tomski in Moscow's premiere of Peter Tchaikovsky's Queen of Spades . He left the opera stage in 1905.

His wife Alexandra Krutikova was a Russian contraltist .
