Bolat Niyazymbetov

Bolat Kengesbekuly Nijasymbetow ( Kazakh Болат Кеңесбекұлы Ниязымбетов , Russian Болат Кенесбекович Ниязымбетов Bolat Kenesbekowitsch Nijasymbetow * 19th September 1972 in Taras ) is a former Kazakh boxer and Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan . Niyazymbetov was Asian champion in 1994 and 1995 and bronze medalist at the 1995 Asian Games and the 1996 Olympic Games .

Career

In 1994 Nijasymbetow took third place at the world cup in Bangkok in the light welterweight (-63.5 kg) behind Oktay Urkal , Germany , and Abdellah Benbiar, Morocco . In the same year he was Asian champion in Tehran and bronze medalist at the Asian Games . In 1995 he defended his title at the Asian Championships, but retired from the World Championships in the quarter-finals against Nurhan Süleymanoğlu , Turkey (9: 4).

At the 1996 Chemical Cup in Halle (Saale) , he lost in the semi-finals to the reigning world champion Héctor Vinent , Cuba (14: 4). This is exactly what he met in the semi-finals of the 1996 Olympic Games . After victories over Carlos Martinez, Mexico (25: 3), Davis Mwale, Zambia (11: 3), and Babak Moghimi, Iran (13: 7), he lost to Vinent (23: 6) and thus won the Olympic bronze medal.

After this great success, Niyazymbetov, only 24 years old, ended his career.
