Bold is an American hardcore punk band formed in Katonah , Westchester County , New York in 1985 . Along with bands like Youth of Today and Side by Side, she was an important part of the straight edge movement of the 1980s.

Band history

The band was formed under the name Crippled Youth by singer and guitarist Matt Warnke, bassist Tim Brooks and drummer Drew Thomas. After a few appearances in which Warnke sang and played the guitar, guitarist John "Zulu" Zuluaga joined the band, so that Warnke only took the post of singer. They released a 7 " EP called Join the Fight in 1986 on the Californian label New Beginning . After that they changed their name to Bold. They then recorded the LP Speak Out . It was to be released on the Californian label WishingWell Records , but was finally released in 1988 on Revelation Records .

Later, Tom Capone ( Shelter , Quicksand ) joined the band as a second guitarist. Together they recorded a 7 "single named after them in 1989, which comprised a total of five songs. It was released through Revelation Records. The single was released in 1993 as a 12" record under the name Looking Back . This contained two additional songs. The band split up in 1989 for the time being.

In 2005 the band got back together. Warnke took over the vocals, Capone the electric guitar, Brooks the bass and Vinny Panza the drums. John Porcelly , who had already played with the band in the 1980s, later joined the band as the second guitarist. She played a few concerts and Revelation Records released the CD The Search: 1985-1989 in 2005, which contained all of the band's previous works.

Warnke and Porcelly left the band briefly in 2006, but soon rejoined the band.
