Bom Jesus is a place and a church in Angola. The place is located on the banks of the Cuanza River , about 60 km southeast of Luanda .

administration

Bom Jesus is the seat of a municipality of the same name (Comuna) in the district ( Município ) of Ícolo e Bengo in the province of Luanda .

In addition to the main town, the most important localities in the municipality are:

  • Cassenda
  • Coxe
  • Quilómetro-44
  • Zambela

economy

There is an old sugar factory and a newly built Coca-Cola factory in the community . In the COBEJE ( Companhia de Bebidas do Bom Jesus ), Cuca BGI brews Cuca and Nocal beers here .

Construction is currently underway to the north of the community at Luanda's new international airport, the Angola International Airport . The control tower and the administration building are located in the municipality.

Economic expansion creates problems

The enormous construction boom in Angola's capital Luanda has been causing ever more massive pressure and the associated greater expansion of economic and industrial areas eastwards into the province of Bengo. Most affected are the people of Bom Jesus. The large Angola International Airport is to be built here on an area of 30 square kilometers . The administrator of the community, Serafim Catarina, therefore calls for more intensive cooperation for economic development in the region. The conditions for the people of Bom Jesus are not good, so cooperation with the newly installing companies is required to solve the problems of the district.

Large projects in Luanda and widespread poverty

The primary aim is to improve basic services for the population, especially in the areas of health, education, drinking water distribution, power supply and medical supply with medicines. The population of the place fears annexation by the province of Luanda and thus further economic pressure. They expressed their displeasure about various deficiencies in the village in May 2010 at a demonstration.
