style

General

The multi-instrumentalist Rosenstock is the main songwriter and band leader. The line-up for concerts and recordings, which were mostly made with a home computer, changes frequently - at concerts even spectators are allowed to play if they bring their own instrument. The name refers to the term " bombing ", which comes from the graffiti scene. Since Rosenstock did not want to spend any money on pressing CDs and printing on T-shirts, he published his music on the website for free. "Official" band shirts are made with pens at concerts.

music

Bomb the Music Industry! plays a mix of ska and punk . They are often compared to bands from previous ska waves like Blue Meanies , Fishbone or Big D and the Kids Table , as all of these bands mixed different styles and experimental effects with the usual ska of their respective era. BTMI! also has similarities with popular ska-punk bands like Catch 22 . According to Rosenstock, the songs are also heavily influenced by bands like Harvey Danger and Neutral Milk Hotel .
