Bona von Pisa ( Latin: the good ; * around 1156 in Pisa ; † May 29, 1207 ibid) was a Catholic Augustinian religious and mystic .

Life

On a pilgrimage to the Holy Land , she had the apparition that Christ was putting a ring on her hand. Tradition has it that she subsequently performed many miracles and was believed to have prophetic abilities. In addition to Palestine, Bona of Pisa also made pilgrimages to Rome , Santiago de Compostela and Monte Gargano . The monastery of San Iacopo al Poggio in Pisa was founded with their assistance.

Her remains are kept in the Church of San Martino in Pisa.

Adoration

After her canonization she became the patron saint of the city of Pisa as well as the pilgrim. In 1962 she was given by Pope John XXIII. been appointed patroness of the flight attendants . Her feast day is May 29th.

In art she is mostly depicted as a nun with a cross in her folded hands.
