The Bonnet Plume River is right tributary of the Peel River in the territory of Yukon in Canada .

Its source is in the Backbone Ranges on the border with the Northwest Territories . It flows in a north-westerly direction, later in a north-westerly direction through the mountains. The river valley of the Bonnet Plume River separates the Bonnet Plume Mountains to the east from the Wernecke Mountains to the west . The Bonnet Plume River is considered to be one of the most inaccessible rivers in North America.

The most common tree species are black spruce , white spruce , western balsam poplar , aspen , larch , alder and willow .

Indigenous wildlife includes moose , black bear , grizzly bear , wolf , beaver , muskrat and a large number of small animals and birds.

The Bonnet Plume is a popular river for multi-week whitewater tours with kayaks and Canadians.

The Bonnet Plume is one of the protected rivers of the Canadian Heritage Rivers System .
