Boots Faye
Boots Faye (born August 28, 1923 in Springfield , Missouri , † August 25, 1999 ; real name Grace Eloise Tartsch ) was an American country musician . She often performed with her husband Idaho Call .
Life
Childhood and youth
Boots Faye was the youngest of three daughters in the family. She grew up in a musical environment; her father played guitar and fiddle , among other things . However, her two sisters had no musical talent.
Career
Faye began her career in her hometown with Marie Genevie Brayfield. Together they performed under the stage name The Faye Sisters ( Boots & Bobby Faye ). At first they just played together for entertainment in their free time and then applied for the Alfebrau Hour , a weekly talent show. After they sang a song there, they were hired by the radio station KWTO to appear on the station's program. They also toured with the Weaver Brothers ; Boots Faye was also a member of the Hillbilly Belles on KWTO. After another brief stay, the duo returned to KWTO in 1940 and stayed there until 1943, apart from a brief interlude at KMA in Shenandoah , Iowa .
After their partner got married, the duo broke up and Faye moved to Shenandoah, where she could be heard on KMA for a while. She then moved to California , where she sang in Foreman Phillips ' Western Swing Orchestra. There she also met the musician Idaho Call, whom she married shortly afterwards in 1945. Both played with Ted Daffan's Texans during this time .
Faye and her husband went independent in business by starting their own record label, Fayecall Records, and their own publishing company , Krawl Publishing. In 1951 they both signed a record deal with Capitol Records , which dominated the record market on the west coast. Solo records have also been recorded for some joint singles for Capitol. For Callfaye they also recorded some singles, of which Tip Toes / Dreamy Moon was re-released in 1961 or 1963 by RCA Victor . Still, a chart hit didn't want to come and Faye's big break never came.
Boots Faye and her husband had four children. She died in 1999.
