Borgue , in Gaelic Borgh , is a village in the Scottish Council Area Dumfries and Galloway or in the traditional county of Kirkcudbrightshire . It is located about six kilometers southwest of Kirkcudbright .

history

The remains of a moth can be found northwest of Borgue . In the sea off Borgue are the Islands of Fleet and Little Ross Island. In their vicinity is the simple fortification of a former local laird . It is dated to the late 17th century. The Borgue Old House to the east dates from the 1680s. In 1782 the poet William Nicholson was born in Borgue. The merchant James Brown from Manchester , who retired on the Knockbrex House estate in the nearby hamlet of Knockbrex , had Corseyard Farm built as a modern model farm between 1911 and 1914 .

In the course of the 1961 census survey, Borgue counted 83 inhabitants.

Located in a sparsely populated region, Borgue is only connected via a side road. It connects the village to the A755 in the north, shortly before it joins the A75 ( Stranraer - Gretna Green ).
